MEDIA RELEASE: Qualitas grows capital team with two senior appointments

Leading Australian alternative real estate investment manager Qualitas Limited (ASX: QAL) has announced two new senior hires to its capital team to support its rapid growth.

David Porter has joined the team as Head of Institutional Capital, and Tom Keenan as Head of International Wholesale Capital.

David Porter, formerly of BlackRock Australia, brings over 25 years of experience and will assist Qualitas build new and existing relationships with institutional clients across Australia and globally, with a focus on Europe and Asia-Pacific.

Tom Keenan joins Qualitas from MLC Asset Management with over 20 years of experience in asset management and sales. Tom will be responsible for capital raising in the private bank and multi-manager channel offshore and will oversee the commercial development of the Qualitas client base.

Dean Winterton, Global Head of Capital, Qualitas, said “Qualitas’ institutional business has gone from strength to strength; the proportion of Qualitas’ total committed FUM managed on behalf of local and international institutional investors increased to 76% during 1H23, up from 69% of FUM in 1H22, which includes several large mandates; the proportion of sovereign wealth funds within the Qualitas institutional investor base increased to 62% during 1H23, compared to 43% in 1H22, suggesting strong confidence in Qualitas’ investment strategies.

Dean Winterton said: “We expect institutional investors to increase allocations toward commercial real estate private credit. Qualitas welcomes David and Tom to the team; they are highly regarded in the industry and will be vital to our continued growth and development.”
